A cable grommet only looks right if the hole is the grommet's size and the same distance from the edge as the next one along. This template sets both. Lay it on the desk, hold the fence to the edge, mark around the inside of the ring, and cut with a hole saw.

What each setting does

Grommet hole diameter. The finished hole your grommet drops into. A 2 inch grommet usually wants a 2 inch (about 51 mm) hole, a 60 mm grommet a 60 mm hole. Check the grommet, because the "size" on the box is sometimes the top ring, not the hole.

From the edge. How far in from the back edge the center of the hole sits. Keep it the same for every grommet so they line up across the desk.

Holes and spacing. One hole for a single grommet, or several in a row at a spacing for a line of them.

Using it

This is a marking template, not a drilling guide, because the hole is too big to drill. Set it on the desk, hold the edge, and run a pencil around the inside of the ring. Then cut just inside the line with a hole saw and drop the grommet in.

Before you download

The file is read back before the button turns on: every edge shared by exactly two triangles, every face pointing outward, a positive volume. If a setting cannot make a sound template, the page says why.
